Level 27 - Blinds 50,000/100,000/10,000 (Players Remaining: 5)
Play has slowed down once more, and the remaining players seem very chummy and talkative. Telling stories...continuing discussion during muti-way pots...just a different final table atmosphere than we're used to.

Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): 6th Place - Farah ($19,323)
Level 27 - Blinds 50,000/100,000/10,000 (Players Remaining: 5)
Mohammed was left with nine big blinds coming back from break, and when the action folded to him on the button, he shoved his remaining chips. Shankar Pillai called out of the big blind, and it would be the K J of Pillai against the 3 3 of Farah. The run out seemed great for Mohammed until a jack spiked the river, sending him home in sixth place.

Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): Break Time
Players are going on a (10) minute break and will return to Level 28 and blinds of 50,000/100,000/10,000. Chip counts are as is:
- Justin Levy - 1,800,000
- Shankar Pillai - 10,000,000
- Josh Albin - 2,500,000
- Wes Wyvill - 5,200,000
- Vimy Ha - 6,000,000
- Mohammed Farrah - 900,000
Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): 7th Place - Hubbard ($15,949)
Level 27 - Blinds 40,000/80,000/10,000 (Players Remaining: 7)
Stephanie Hubbard likely went further than she ever thought she would, as she sat at work this afternoon while the rest of the field had started play. She came into Day 3 with 742,000, but when she arrived at her seat, she had just under 300,000.

She played about as quality as you can (and had some big hands) to last as long as she did, and even put herself in position to make noise at the final table. She shoved just under 1,000,000 and was called by Vimy Ha, and Ha's AK would have the AQ of Hubbard trumped. There was no help as the board ran out jack high, sealing Stephanie's fate.
Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): 8th Place - Malkoun ($12,524)
Level 27 - Blinds 40,000/80,000/10,000 (Players Remaining: 7)
Peter Malkoun (Brookhaven, PA) 8th Place - $12,525 |
Peter Malkoun open shoved 1,480,000 and when the action was on Vimy Ha he iso-shoved about 2,700,000. Justin Levy folded in the big blind and the hands were tabled:
Malkoun: 7 7 Ha: A Q
Flop: A J J
Turn: 5
River: 8
Vimy Ha has now vaulted himself to the top three, chipping up to over 4,000,000.
Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): Vimy Doubles
Level 27 - Blinds 40,000/80,000/10,000 (Players Remaining: 8)
Vimy Ha gets a full doubles as he check raises Josh Albin all-in on a flop of Q 6 4. Albin had bet 550,000 on the flop, and although it was only 705,000 more to call, Josh seemed to feel as if he just wasn't good. Albin would eventually make the call and show 88, but that was after Vimy tabled KK. Vimy would river a king, which was irrelevant at the time, and double to 3,300,000.

Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): Starting Up Slowly
Level 27 - Blinds 40,000/80,000/10,000 (Players Remaining: 8)
Since returning from dinner the play has been extremely slow. There haven't been many hands that went to a flop, and maybe one or two hands that have gone to a showdown.

Players are going to dinner for a (75) break, and when they return to Level 27, the blinds will be going up to 40,000/80,000/10,000.
Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): We Are All Witness
Level 26 - Blinds 30,000/60,000/10,000 (Players Remaining: 8)
We have just seen what had to be the pot of the tournament. Vimy Ha opened the pot for 160,000, and was then three bet by Shankar Pillai to 420,000. When the action was back on Ha, he was four bet to 1,000,000. After thinking for a few moments Pillai would five bet to 1,800,000, which Vimy Ha then flatted.
The flop ran out 10 6 4, and Pillai was first to act. Shankar fired out a bet of 1,000,000 which was called by Vimy. After the 7 on the turn, Shankar would announce himself all-in (covering Ha), and it looked as if Vimy was about to snap. He then sat back in his chair, and Shankar actually let out an audible sigh of relief, and said aloud that he then knew his hand was good.
Vimy asked if Shankar would show the hand if he folded, and after going with a open ended answer, eventually told Vimy he would show. Ha would fold his hand and Shankar would win an 7,000,000 pot without a showdown.
Shankar Pillai - 8,400,000
Vimy Ha - 2,200,000

Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): 9th Place - Patel ($9,559)
Level 26 - Blinds 30,000/60,000/10,000 (Players Remaining: 8)
We've seen a ton of pre flop all-ins, and the most popular one of the day has been the classic QQ v. AK, which would send Raj Patel home. This time the AK couldn't find a way to win, and Josh Albin would end up sending Patel home.

Players are taking a (15) minute break, and will return to Level 26 and blinds of 30,000/60,000/10,000. Here are the updated final table counts:

Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): 10th Place - Fliegelman ($7,003)
Level 25 - Blinds 20,000/40,000/5,000 (Players Remaining: 9)
It was another tough spot for Noam, as he ran his AK into the AA of Peter Malkoun. Although that's the hand that will send him home, we're sure he will replay the hand earlier with Raj Patel when he folded QQ to Patel's pre-flop all-in.

Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): 11th Place - Miller ($7,003)
Level 25 - Blinds 20,000/40,000/5,000 (Players Remaining: 10)
Greg Miller visited Parx for the first time this series from upstate New York, having met Matt Glantz at Turning Stone during his Poker Night In America appearance. Greg made a great run in this main trophy event, but unfortunately ran his A10 into the AA of Stephanie Hubbard. Greg was really a class act in defeat and throughout the tournament and we look forward to having him back again.

Level 25 - Blinds 20,000/40,000/5,000 (Players Remaining: 11)
Paul Spitzberg had an up and down Day 3, staying fairly quiet throughout. He told us his bustout hand, as he had K4 on the 5 5 4 board. He shipped his remaining chips on that flop, and was called by Shankar Pillai who had a flush draw. Pillai made his flush and would eliminate Spitzberg, who books his first cash here at Parx.

Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): 13th Place - Wolf ($5,879)
Level 25 - Blinds 20,000/40,000/5,000 (Players Remaining: 12)
Laurence has made a habit of deep runs recently...wherever it is he is playing. He picked a spot on the river of a Q 2 2 10 x board to ship, but unfortunately he walked right into Justin Levy's A2. Laurence bests his previous cash in the Big Stax III, and will surely look to better today's finish during our next series.

Level 25 - Blinds 20,000/40,000/5,000 (Players Remaining: 13)
James Sansone was another player who seemed to always be on top of the chip counts throughout Days 1-3. He found himself involved on the wrong side of some pots, and was one of the shorter stacks remaining, before he got his KQ (off) in pre for 550,000 against Mohammed Farrah's 10 10. It looked bad for Mo as the king was the door card, but there was a ten hiding right behind it, and Sansone would be drawing dead on the turn.

Farrah is now up to 2,000,000, and has been basically silent before that hand.
Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): 15th Place - Santana ($5,879)
Level 24 - Blinds 20,000/40,000/5,000 (Players Remaining: 14)
Aristides spent much of this tournament in the top ten of the field, and today was no different. As the day progressed though, Santana would find himself as one of the shorter stacks in the field. He shoved his remaining 500,000 pre and was called by Shankar Pillai. It was a race between Santana's A 10 and Pillai's 7 7, and Aristides quickly stole the lead with an ace on the flop. The runout would be pure for Pillai though as he would river a seven, knock out Aristides, and pad his chip lead (close to 5,000,000).

Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): Huge Lay Down
Level 25 - Blinds 20,000/40,000/5,000 (Players Remaining: 15)
After Noam Fleigelman opened the pot for a raise, Raj Patel decided this was his spot, and pushed in for 1,565,000. Noam was in the tank for over eight minutes before deciding to fold and showing QQ. To his dismay Patel told him he was ahead and flipped over JJ, drawing a frustrated reaction from Noam.

Level 24 - Blinds 15,000/30,000/5,000 (Players Remaining: 17)
Jared had a roller coaster tournament, down to only 50,000 in the latter stages of Day 2. He came into the day with over 600,000, and went down to 150,000, before once again building it up to 1,300,000. He started his final hand with about 600,000 and got it all-in pre with Wes Wyvill:

Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): 17th Place - Glantz ($5,153)
Level 24 - Blinds 15,000/30,000/5,000 (Players Remaining: 16)
Matt Glantz (Lafayette Hills, PA) 17th Place - $5,153 |
Matt Glantz had lost a sizable pot to Laurence Wolf only moments before he would be eliminated. Hubbard would open the pot for a raise and when the action was on Matt he would push his remaining 450,000. It folded around to Stephanie who would make the call with QQ, and would hold against the AJ of Glantz.
Hubbard is not up over 1,400,000, and probably thinking that her decision to show up late wasn't the worst thing in the world. Glantz continues to make deep runs in what is his home casino, but falls short of a Big Stax final table once again (he final tabled a 6-Max during a prior Big Stax series).
Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): Hubbard Doubles...Again
Level 24 - Blinds 15,000/30,000/5,000 (Players Remaining: 17)
Stephanie had just min-raised blind v. blind and had to fold to Peter Malkoun's all-in. Only two hands later Hubbard would shove her remaining 440,000, and Malkoun would re-shove behind. It would be the QQ of Hubbard against the JJ of Malkoun, and Stephanie would hold, building her stack above what she started the day with.
Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): Hubbard Arrives...And Doubles
Level 24 - Blinds 15,000/30,000/5,000 (Players Remaining: 17)
Stephanie sat down a few moments ago, and it didn't take long before she would be all-in and would double up with AA (not bad when you're super short...and super late). She now has 500,000 and it one more double away from making some noise.

Chip Average: 1,500,000
Joseph Loscialo (Freehold, NJ) 19th Place - $4,550 |
Although it would be Matt Glantz that would eliminate Loscialo from the tournament, it was a pot between Laurence Wolf (all in pre with AK v. JJ) that would cripple him. After losing the race with the AK, Joseph was left with three big blinds and soon got it in against Glantz.
Players are now finding new seats as the tournament directors are redrawing at eighteen.
Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): Malkoun Doubles
Level 23 - Blinds 12,000/24,000/4,000 (Players Remaining: 19)
Chip Average: 1,380,000
Peter Malkoun finds a crucial double (to about 900,000), after what looked like a dire situation for him. The chips got in on the turn of a K Q 10 7 board, and it would be the QQ of Malkoun (middle set) against the AJ (flopped broadway) of Aristides Santana. The board would pair with a 10 on the river giving Malkoun the pot.
Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): 20th Place - Pyne ($4,550)
Big Stax 1000 (Day 3): 21st Place - Stathakis ($4,550)

Chip Average: 1,380,000
Spiros would push his last 400,000 on the flop against Shankar Pillai (only a hand or two after Pillai lost to Wyvill), and Shankar would make the call:

Wes Wyville raised Shankar Pillai's 375,000 river bet to 950,000 on a board of J♠ 9♠ 4♠ 5x 8x, and Pillai would jump in the tank. Wes stayed still and stoic as he waited for Shankar's decision, which truly seemed to be one that deserved serious thought.
Shankar would verbalize the call, and see Wyvill flip over A♠6♠ (having flopped the nuts). Wyvill would chip up to 3,000,000, as Pillai continues a rough start to the day (Shankar had also flopped a flush).
